Nomadic
A discovery platform for people who travel slowly
/ Overview
Nomadic is a self-initiated concept study: a travel platform built around long stays and considered itineraries. We designed every surface as if a real product team would ship it: discovery, guides, itinerary builder, and booking handoff.
/ What each case study includes
Brief: A travel platform for slow travelers planning long, considered stays
Process: From discovery flows to guides, itinerary builder, and booking handoff
Decisions: Content-first cards, long-form guides, and search that recedes until needed
Build: A component system sized for a real product team to ship
Status: Concept / spec work — not a shipped product
/ Challenge
Mainstream travel sites push price comparison and decision fatigue. Nomadic is for the opposite traveler — someone planning a four-week itinerary, looking for places to stay in, not transit through. The brief: design a platform that respects that pace and rewards the visitor for slowing down.
/ Provided Services
Brand strategy
Positioning, name system, and voice — anchored on slow travel and considered itineraries. The brand says no to the things mainstream travel says yes to.
Web design & UI/UX
Discovery, destination guide, itinerary builder, and booking handoff designed as one continuous editorial experience — not stacked product modules.
Design system
Tokens, components, and motion rules so the platform stays consistent as new destinations and content types are added.
/ Solution
Content-first cards over filter chrome. Long-form destination guides hold the same weight as booking flows. Search is present but recedes until the visitor is ready for it. Imagery does most of the navigation — the visitor travels through the site the way they'd travel through a place.
/ Tech stack
React
Component-driven front-end — discovery, guides, and the itinerary builder built as reusable components so the concept could scale to real destinations and content types.
GSAP
Scroll choreography for the guide pages — section pacing and reveals that let the visitor move through the page the way they'd move through a place.
Lenis
Smooth scrolling the slow-travel concept leans on — momentum that keeps long-form guides feeling calm rather than clipped.
SCSS
A token-driven SCSS system — variables for color, type, and spacing so the editorial look stays consistent across every surface of the concept.
